Brite - Dip Anodizing Aluminum Follow - Up & Care
Congratulations on your choice to secure a restored piece of automotive history!
Reanodized aluminium has just the vintage look that will seperate your Falcon from
all the rest. Your aluminium items have been professionally repaired, polished, and brite-dip re-anodized to factory origional. This part may have slight imperfections and or blemishes ( especially if there was a break- through and repair), but these
should not be offensive to standard for comparison. Even factory original pieces
exhibit manufacturing flaws of relocation and storage, are typically far from perfect. I stand by each restoration and, if not 100% satisfied, offer a full refund
on your investment.
Be informed that this piece is not chrome-plated, and is much more sensitive to chemicals and abrasives than refinished chrome. The following guidelines for care and maintenance are recommended for long- life of your newly finished item:
Clean only with clear water, and wipe dry with a soft cotton cloth. Remove foreign matter gently with mild soap and warm water, rinse and dry.
1.)
Avoid using any polishes or waxes whatsoever on re-anodized aluminium. These will not warm the finish, but will certainly take the  out-of-the-booth" shine down a notch.
2.)
Do not buff with metal polish. Again, this will remove the fresh brightness, which cannot be buffed back. If you look closely on directions of current metal conditioners, there are warnings regarding appyling  product to anodized aluminium.
3.)
.
Congratulations on your newly restored trim! Your aluminum piece was first chemically stripped of all those years of distressed factory anodization. During the process, undoubtedly several thousand(many microscopic) pits were uncovered and revealed, some of which went deep into the thickness of the metal. After much meticulous grinding, sanding, and sometimes reshaping, the trim piece was finally returned to its original look. The piece was then cleaned and assessed. Our artisans, at times, will continue to take down the metal's thickness as far as possible so as to rid the piece of its pitted surface. This explains why, in some places upon close inspection, the piece is actually thinner than in other locations. This has all been taken into consideration, however, so that the end product would not be visually distorted or off-balance in anyway. Your piece was then both dry and wet sanded with finer and finer grit paper, then finally buffed and polished to a brillant sheen using the finest of rouges.
Maintenance of polished aluminum involves very little effort, certainly no more than maintaining the condition of your car's glass and chrome. The amount of time your car spends outside in the elements, day and night, will determine the rate of oxidization which naturally takes place with bare soft metals. With garaged vehicles, taken to cruise nights and shows, the upkeep will be minimal. On daily drivers, we suggest, on perhaps a monthly basis, taking a soft cloth and rubbing thoroughly with a
Quality Metal Polish, such as Flitz Polish, Blue Magic, or Wenol's Metal Polish. After a good polishing, buff to its original high shine with a clean, soft cloth. That's it! Some guys like to add a thin coat of carnuba wax, but this is not essential. Be sure, however, that whatever polish you choose to apply, do not use anything that is abrasive such as rubbing compound or automotive cleaner.Your bare aluminum is a soft metal, and will scratch if aggressively polished with anything abrasive.
Other than the above, simply keep your parts clean and enjoy! Your restored aluminum trim should last many, many years to come. Any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to email or call. All of your comments and pictures of your installed items are, of course, welcome anytime.
